Frequently Asked Questions

I haven't played dodgeball since I was in elementary school, should I play in this league?

Our leagues are built to be more fun, then competitive. We welcome everyone to participate regardless of skill level. We are more interested in building a fun, social atmosphere for the LGBTQIA+ Community then we are in building an olympic dodgeball team!

Will I get hit in the face?

The short answer is YES, you will inevitably get hit in the face at some point. Five balls are flying back and forth and people are moving constantly. As long as it is not intentional, you are still out if you get hit in the head. If the same person is repeatedly hitting people in the head, then they will be dealt with on a case by case scenario. It is unavoidable and if you dip or dive to miss a ball and another one hits you in the head, but otherwise would have hit you in the thigh, then it is not the person who threw the ball's fault.

Does it hurt to get hit in the face?

There are so many factors that go into this question. The first is your pain tolerance. The second is how hard the ball is thrown. Some people in the league can throw hard, others not so much. We do use "no-sting" rubber dodgeballs. They are coated with a soft rubber coat designed to soften the blow.

Will I hit someone else in the face?

Probably.

Should I go to therapy or play GAAY Dodgeball?

Ideally both, but dodgeball works in a pinch.
