Billiards

Billiards consist of many different games. We will be playing 8-ball in this league. Below are the official WPA rules, which we will be utilizing for this league.

Ages

As with all GAAY Sport Leagues, this is open to any player 18 and up.

When

This league begins Jan. 11, 2026, and concludes on March 29th. Practice begins at 4:30 PM if you like, with the first match racks being 5 PM.

Where

The brand new REO Town Clubhouse on Washington Ave. in Lansing.

GAMES

Each person will play 3 games per week, unless a team has more than 5 players present that week, then it could be fewer.

FORMAT

So this is a team competition. You will have one match per week. A match consists of three rounds. Each round has 5 games. The team that wins 3 or more of the 5 games wins the round and one point. A fourth point is given each week to the team that wins the most games out of all 15 total. At the end of the 12 weeks, the team with the most points wins.

EXAMPLE:

Round 1 Team A wins all 5 games

Round 2 Team B wins 3 games

Round 3 Team B wins 3 games

For the week Team A gets 2 points and Team B gets 2 points because Team A won 9 games and Team B won 6 even though Team B won 2 rounds.

WHO PLAYS WHO

A schedule for each match will be given to your table before the match. Your results need to be recorded on this sheet and returned to the Manager of Billiard Operations, aka, The GAAY Pool Shark (Lex L.), before you leave.

REGISTRATION

Your registration covers all the games of pool for the entire 12 weeks, including practice time before each week. It also covers prizes for the winning team and contributes to the overall costs for GAAY Sports, including this website.

Extra Costs

Any drinks and/or food you purchase at REO Town Clubhouse are the players' responsibility. They have a great menu and would be an excellent choice for dinner on Sundays.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I miss a week?

If a team does not have 5 players, they would have to forfeit the games they do not have someone to play in. A player cannot play more than once per round.

Can we have more than 5 players on a team?

YES! it is suggested to have 6-7 players to accommodate for the weeks people have to be absent. We will ask during registration for you to list the weeks you know you will be gone and try to NOT have people on the same team that will be gone the same weeks.

What if all six show up to play?

If you choose to sit a different person each game during the match, just be sure to denote on the schedule who played each game and who sat for individual record tracking please.

Do I need my own stick?

REO Town has some sticks available for use, but they would be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lansing - Racks and Sticks

UPDATE:  We have reached the maximum number of players for our allotted space with the facility; however, I spoke with them, and we can get enough people beyond the 36 we have now for two more full teams, they will give us another table.  So please, join the waitlist if you had wanted to play but were not quick enough on the draw to register.  If we get the required number of people, you will get an email to pay and officially join the league.  We cannot add people without the two full teams.  Additionally, if someone withdraws from the league, those on the waitlist will be the first to be added.  If we don't get enough people for two full teams, you will receive an offer to join the league as a substitute, and teams will only be allowed to use those who accept the offer to sub on their teams.  Otherwise, if someone isn't there and one of the designated league subs is not used, they forfeit that game.

Join us for our first billiards league beginning Jan. 11, 2026.  This 12-week league will go until March 29th.  Warmups at 4:30 with first racks at 5:00 pm sharp!  Teams will consist of a minimum of 5 players (it is highly suggested you have 6/7 to accommodate travel/illness/etc). Sign up and form your own team or solo, and let us pair you up with other people.  Located inside the REO Town Clubhouse, the brand new tables roll smoothly and have clean shots all around the tables.  So get your big stick and come break a tight rack this winter!
